The environmental footprint of its holidays also depends on the products purchased by Club Med. The Purchasing and Sustainable Development Divisions have drawn up guidelines commiting the Club to respecting sustainable principles in the choice of products and production processes. In 2006 the Club drew up a selection of products for priority purchase, based on Life Cycle Analyses.

Local purchasing

Club Méditerranée's purchasing policy gives priority to local products, thus limiting the transfer of merchandise between zones. The dual motivation of this policy is to support the local economy and limit pollution related to the transport of goods. A purchasing tracking tool monitors the volume, origin and destination of purchases, giving priority to local products.

Getting the whole supply chain involved

Club Med's 20,000 local and international suppliers are the major partners and players of this strategy, thanks to the quality of the products and services they deliver (not forgetting that Gilbert Trigano was the Club's first supplier!) The Club has strengthened the role of its suppliers by setting up a charter of mutual respect and values.
