In the short term, Club Méditerranée has limited means at its disposal for intervening in terms of the impact of transport on the environment, less so than on its core business of managing its Resorts. Yet however limited, it remains a priority to do whatever is in the Club's power in this area.
Club Med has often helped develop local tourism in countries such as Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Israel, Mexico, Brazil, and so on, not to mention the vast numbers of French clients who holiday in the French Resorts.
The Club has projects underway in regions with a dynamic customer base (openings planned at Buzios in Brazil, in France at Valmorel, etc).
Beyond one-week stays, we propose incentives to stay on with reductions such as the "Take your time" offer.
From its origins, Club Med's policy has been to optimize the occupation of its Resorts and also of its charter flights: highly efficient yield-management tools mean that the average occupation rate of Club Med charter flights reaches 85%, which is 10 points higher than the average used to calculate CO2 emissions by the French national railways (SNCF). (The rate used by the French national energy agency in its calculations is 75%).
Club Med works with airlines that have good environmental performance such as Air France KLM, its historic partner. It partners them in environmental initiatives, seeking to optimise routes and bring ecological and financial benefits.
Club Méditerranée is the SNCF's biggest customer in the tourist industry. It has always proposed train + transfer + stay packages for its French, Italian and Swiss mountain Resorts, which 12 to 15% of its clients purchase.

In spite of the undertaken efforts and the current technological progress, we are still unable to eliminate transport-related CO2 emissions completely. For this reason, Club Med supports programs to offset CO2 emissions and offers its clients in France and the USA who book online, the option to offset the CO2 emissions resulting from their transportation. To this end, Club Med works in partnership with France Action Carbone, an association which selects and supports projects that aim to reduce the consequences of greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries.
