Bintan Elephant Park is a great place to see elephants close up. The 40-minute Seven Elephants of Sumatra show is a fabulous interactive experience. You'll see how they eat, and find out lots of things about their behaviour. After the show, you can ride on one of these magnificent animals, or just feed them.
A trip on the Sebung River, where you'll admire the incredible life in the mangrove and jungle.
The excursion may be done in the day or evening.
During the day, you'll see the local plant life and wild animals (monkies, lizards, kingfishers, etc) and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the forest.
In the evening, the twinkling stars and fireflies will add to the magic of the mangrove experience.
During the excursion you'll have the chance to catch crabs and shrimps with a local fisherman.
Lunch or dinner in one of the best local seafood restaurants is an optional extra.

Guided tour to discover traditional fishing techniques with a local fisherman.
Your excursion will take you to a traditional village where you can learn how the local fishermen catch fish, crabs and shrimps. Your local fisherman-guide will explain how the different types of trap work.

You'll drive through the Indonesian jungle then a boat will take you down the river to the village (Kampung), where you can discover local life. You'll learn how to make Jamu (traditional Indonesian herbal medecine) and a local dish, Tempeh (fermeted soja). You'll also discover local weaving techniques before stopping off at Pasar Oheh Oleh on the way back to admire local craftwork, including batik.
You can get a taxi to Pasar Oleh Oleh, a souvenir market made up of traditional huts, each selling a particular speciality: Keropok (pink shrimp and fish crackers), dried sea fruit, scallops and little shrimps.
For those with a sweet tooth, Kueh Lapis is a tasty local cake.
Close to the Straits of Malacca, a very busy sea lane linking Indonesia to Singapore, used by cruise ships and merchant ships alike, Tanjung Pinang is Bintan Island's main port. You'll visit the traditional market where you can try the numerous types of fascinatingly coloured dried foods. The excursion includes a local seafood lunch and time for a trip to Bintan mall. You'll be taken to Senggarang by river taxi where you can visit the houses built on stilts on the water. You'll also visit the Banyan Tree Temple, which gets its name from the Banyan Tree roots that grow around it, and the Old Chinese Temple. On the way back you'll probably get to see a beautiful sunset, and enjoy a cool drink on the beach. A firework show is an optional extra, before getting back to Club Med.

On the way you'll visit a local farm where you can taste over 20 different types of fruits and vegetables, before vising the traditional Chinese temple. You can shop at the local market, and on the way back you'll stop at Panorama Hill for some fresh coconut and at Pasar Oleh Oleh where you'll find local handicrafts, including batik.
