Excursion recommended by the Discovery centre.
Discover the contrasting architectural styles of the town centre, a mixture of 19th century houses and skyscrapers. Visit the former Benedictine monastery - a perfect example of Baroque architecture -, the Avenida Rio Branco and Carioca Street. Lunch at Confeitaria Colombo, one of the oldest cafés in Rio, with its Viennese influence. Visit Sugar Loaf Mountain in the afternoon.
Coffee farms (1 day)

Discover the Do Paraiba Valley, and relive one of the great eras of Brazilian history; the story of the river and the rich coffee plantations that prospered in the 19th century. Visit of 3 farms, presented by their owners, and a typical colonial lunch and snack.
Iguaçu Falls (2 days)
Discover the finest waterfalls in the world, a fabulous festival of water, with over 272 falls cascading into a precipice over 3 kms (almost 2 miles) wide. Visit the Argentine and Brazilian coasts, that make up a perfectly harmonious panorama. Take an electric train to the Macuco National Park. Speedboat ride at the foot of the falls. A unique and unforgettable experience.

Ilha Grande (1 day)
Imagine a huge bay with at least 365 little islands, thousansds of beaches and perfectly sheltered moorings. Beautifully calm, clear, green waters, a white sand beach and in the backdrop, the magnificent Atlantic forest that stretches up to the mountain tops.
Lopes Mendes (1/2 day)
Lopes Mendes, on the Ilha Grande, is one of Brazil's prettiest beaches: 3 kms (almost 2 miles) of white sand, and crystal clear water. Sail to Palmas, with open bar; 30-minute walk and free time for swimming.
Paraty (1 day)
Excursion recommended by our Discovery centre.
This historic city is ranked as a national monument, a superb example of 18th century architecture with ancient paving stones, low houses with sturdy walls, wrought-iron balconies with Masonic symbols and memories of gallions and gold-trafficking pirates.
Sail on a traditional ship; swimming, lunch on "Cotton Island" and free time for visiting.

Rafting
Activity proposed by the Discovery Centre.
Sail down the Mambucaba River in a zodiac - rafting level 3 - one hour of sheer emotion.
Descend fast-flowing rivers or rapids in a rubber dinghy for 4 to 8 people.
Great team spirit and bonding. The most intrepid members of the team take the front seats, the most laid-back in the middle and the members with the most technique at the back. Rafting is the most exciting way to descend a river!
Barbecue lunch of palm hearts.
Rio by night
Visit Ipanema and the art and craft market on Copacabana Beach (on foot).
Dine at the Porcäo d'Ipanema restaurant.
Evening at Brazil's most famous cabaret, the "Rio Scenarium" in the Lapa district.
Rio the Unique (1 day)
Excursion recommended by the Discovery centre.
Visit Corcovado and its famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, the Sugarloaf in a cable car, Ipanema, Copacabana and Leblon beaches. Lunch in a famous "churrascaria", Le Porcäo.
Visit Rio's oldest district, Santa Teresa.
The Rio Carnival
The Rio Carnival will run from 5 to 8 March 2011. The Carnival is a national holiday in Brazil, and the 2011 should be no exception to the vibrant, colourful event that takes over the city every year at carnival time. For 3 days, the Samba Schools parade through the night in the Sambodromo, a fabulous, once-in-a-lifetime spectacle. From 9 pm to 6 am, the schools compete for the coveted title! Club Med proposes grandstand seats in the tourist sector, guaranteeing a panoramic view over this tidal wave of dancing humanity. Excursion departs from Club Med Rio das Pedras.
