Columbus Isle Bahamas

As expected Club Med combined a romantic setting on a spectacular bay of Turkoise water, great food (beyond expectations), a fantastic team of GOs and non stop opportunities of sports and fun activities.
We enjoyed the sailing, diving, wing surfing, snorkeling, kayaking, pétanque; strengthening, stretching, Yoga and aquagym classes; the crazy signs, dancing and shows from the GOs every night.
Food was beyond what I remembered from our last visit, especially the fresh sea food and fish. The grill, sushi, ceviche, salads, cheese, stewed/curry meat including lamb. It was hard to eat less than 3-4 plates per meal. And the rosé was always appreciated. Just the ice creams were disappointing.
Just avoid long walks beyond the club med at sunset to avoid getting attacked by the sand flees.
A special thanks to the GO team, in particular Marie at the bar; Miaou, Behouz, Sacha, Leandro, Loic at the sailing club, Simon my buddy at diving, Lou the choreographer and great dancer, Marvin at fitness and above all Narumi from Fitness.
We just wish that the GOs would seat more with the GMs in general. They were often 2-3 together. Narumi and Maiou were good mingling with visitors.

Having vacationed for decades with Club Med, there is a distinct shift given the new owners. Food options are dismal . The grand platters of French cheeses are no longer, no onsite baker or pastry chef. All desserts tasted exactly the same as if Sara Lee flew in their cakes.
In years past the club had hostesses and GO’s introducing themselves at the dining area and escorted single couples to larger tables to find new dinner companions. If you are coming with a large group of friends or family or are a romantic twosome this would not be a concern. Now the dining experience was reminiscent of highschool with a loud cafeteria vibe.
This club has a beautiful beach, sailing & other water sport offering. Sadly every one of their courts were for tennis. Not one court converted for the pickleball enthusiasts.

My wife and I absolutely love this club med. We travel there each year and every visit makes us want to come back again. This year the tennis team was absolutely amazing. Charles, Andrea, and Dylan were absolutely amazing and playing with them was a joy.

This was our 4th time at Columbus Isle, the last being in 2018. Last time there were issues with the food and wine, but happily those issues had been fixed. Food was excellent and wine was OK. The bars were hit and miss if you liked whiskey - sometimes they had it, other times not. Sometimes 1 bar had it and another didn't. Servers were excellent and charming to chat with. Some bar tenders tended to be somewhat surly. The beach and location remain excellent - probably one of the most beautiful places to visit (I even prefer it to Turks!). GO's were friendly and energetic as always. The club is still repairing the dock from the hurricane, so snorkeling was more time consuming, but the dock is close to complete. I would definitely return for a 5th time!
